Kalaninuimehameha describes a heavenly state of loneliness or isolation. We here in Hawai’i are in the most geographically isolated place on earth with a unbelievable amount of life, water, and culture that has stemmed from that isolation. In our universe life and water is also something that isolates us as a planet. With so much life there is sadly a large decline for the health of both our planet earth and our Hawaiian islands as we are the extinction capital of the world. The Kalaninuimehameha project’s “why” is to exemplify and teach the specialness of isolation, rarity, and uniqueness that is Hawai’i and Hawaiian culture. To provide resources to care for all the life and lands of Hawai’i that are falling to disarray and inspire the people of the world to care for our planet, fighting extinction and preserving life. Utilizing creativity and innovation to accomplish both.
